Albany Aug 13th 1868.
Mr. Whiting.
Dear Sir.
Expecting to spend the remainder of my vacation in Albany, I write you, that I may know if the Society will send me South under their Auspices South. I have, as you know taught in Maryland, where my school was supported by the Association. Mr. Strieby knowing my family so well, I do not know as you will consider it necessary for me to present any recommendations, however they can be furnished if desired. I shall not go to Syracuse, therefore the possibility of seeing Mr. Strieby is small. I understood you to say however that he would be in New York during this month, if so, I trust you have made known to him my application; and will communicate to me the result, which I trust will be favourable.
Should you decide on accepting my services will you furnish me with transportation? Can you not do so anyway?
Awaiting a reply at your earliest convenience I remain
With Respect
