Rev. Geo. Whipple
Dear Friend:
On the 8th inst, I saw you at the rooms and conferred with you about a comission as agent from your organization. You then promised to write me definitely during the next week. I have waited until I have come to the conclusion that the pressure of other matters has crowded this out of your mind. You will remember the reason you delayed was to consult with my valued friend Rev. M. E. Strieby about the expediency of giving me a comission with the proviso that I also collect funds for the specific object of repairing a miserable little church building in which my sister must teach this winter and also to secure sufficient funds for my mother to successfully start an Industrial School in Jackson Miss, where the above referred to school or church building is located
If you cant let me have commendation or com with the proviso do so without please[.] Am I too impatient in soliciting, if possible an answer by return mail? I shall work for the Association mostly on Sabbath. I am much improved in health and wish to commence my proposed work very shortly.
The Pa. Br. Of the Union Freedmen's Aid Society are willing to send my sister to Md and support her there but positively refuse to simply defray her expenses to Jackson, Miss. knowing that the Freedmen's Bureau will well sustain her school.
Very respectfully
