Revd M. E. Strieby,
Dear Friend;
I write to ask you to send me immediately that letter of commendation to your friends in Oswego and other counties in this state, if you choose, Penn. To succeed in collecting any considerable sum, I must act upon a larger scale than I did formerly. Mr. Whipple did not mention money in my commission although it was implied. As I have to encounter some Yankee quizs in my travels I want to be prepared to stay their doubts of a dishonest course. So please use the word money in your letter of commendation. Nothing has been said about compensation as yet. Do please write at once because I can delay no longer than the latter part of this week. I go to Oswego Co. first. Please mention to me the names of your other agents.
Very truly yours
E. G. Highgate
