Churchville Feb. 1st 1869.
Rev. Jno. Kimball.
Sir.
As you will perceive by my report, I have a large school, much too large for the house.
The house is only adapted for thirty scholars and as you may suppose with fifty four pupils we are very much crowded.
The Trustees are very desirous of enlarging the house, and have at last obtained a grant of land for school purposes.
The present building was built entirely by the people, and now that they will have free land, they will be very grateful to the Bureau if they will assist them in enlarging the house.
They will not be able to enlarge it without such assistance, and it is not healthy as it is now.
With this object in view, I have taken the liberty of soliciting your influence in obtaining aid for the Trustees: Feeling that they and the people generally are worthy of aid from their desire to educate themselves and the moral life which most of them lead.
I trust that it will be agreeable and convenient for you and the Bureau to assist the people, and will be pleased to hear from you.
Very respectfully yours,
