5.7.69. | 62 * Mason, R.S. Teacher | Clayton, Harford Co. Md. May 1869. Forwards his school report. Complaines that the trustees are negligent in performing their duties: that the people are behind in paying their share of the toward the support of the school &c. Requests the Supt. of Education to write to the trustees and remind them of their obligations.

Image 127-130: far in arrears with [[strikethrough]] your [[/strikethrough]] their school tax, I have had to get up a school exhibition every month Since I have been here, [[underlined]] I do not object to doing anything at all in reason for [[strikethrough]] the [[ /strikethrough]] to promote the success of the school, [[/underlined]] but I [[underlined]] do [[/underlined]] object [[underlined]] when my efforts are not properly seconded by those most vitally interested. [[/underlined]] It would be a great satisfaction to me if the school could be kept up until the close of the present session which is in June. I merely make this report to you to inform you of the [[underlined]] real status [[/underlined]] of things, and also with the hope that it may elicit a [[underlined]] terse, [[/underlined]] and [[underlined]] positive [[/underlined]] letter from you to them reminding them of their obligations and the importance of the trust confided to them. A letter coming from [[underlined]] you direct [[/underlined]] to them would do more towards [[underlined]] awakening [[/underlined]] them than anything I could say. Clayton, Harford Co Md. Rev. Mr. Kimball Respected Sir I take pleasure to herewith transmit my School Rep't for the month endg. April 30th 1869. I trust it may be gratifying to you. I am sorry to say that it is with utmost difficulty that the Trustees of my School discharge their monthly obligations to the Assocn.
