1869 Darlington Md Oct. 5th Rev John Kimball Supt of Edu Washington D.C. Sir your communication of Sept 29th is in hand stateing that Miss P. Chrisfield of Philadelphia would be in Darlington on Monday last this 4th She has not arrived as yet. I received yours of 29th on the 1st Oct. and thought I would not write a receipt until after the arrival of the teacher. That caused my delay We thank you for your interest in us please accept them We are expecting the teacher & do not know her delay Your obedient servant [[signature]] B Armstrong [[/signature]]
