- Description
- Bureau disbursing officer Edward H. Monteith states that he has received Hopewell trustee Waxwood's letter with estimates for paint, but he believes that the Bureau can provide better. The Bureau will furnish materials for desks, but Waxwood will need to pay to have them made. He calculates that 20 desks, 3 back seats, and a teacher's desk, would cost $35.60. He will send paint and desk materials when the trustees have the money to have the work done.

Chairman Building Com. Freedmen’s School House at Hopewell X Roads Md
Sir:
I have your letter transmitting Estimates for Paint of Noland and Co. I think we can do much better here. We will furnish materials for the Desks and you will have to pay for making & $1.50 for school desks. $1 for back seats & $2.60 for teachers desk. I suppose you would want 20 desks 3 back seats & 1 teachers desk, which make the amount $35.60.
Whenever you let me know that you have sufficient money to get your painting done and pay for the desks I will send you the paint and desks
