- Title
- James Pitt to Rev. John Kimball, Nov. 11, 1868
- Date
- 11-11-1868
- Creator
- James Pitt
- Recipient
- Rev. John Kimball
- Description
- Perrymansville trustee James Pitt writes to Supt. Kimball that it is impossible to complete the schoolhouse by the middle of December. He says that Kimball's initial proposition for $300 of lumber on August 24th would have had the school finished by January, but the new plan sent by Kimball, which would grant them no assistance, "would be folly on [their] part." He states that they are "very annoyed at the sayings of the Democrats" and "greatly disappointed" at the lack of lumber they have received.

Image 45-47: Perrymansville Nov. 11. 1868. Mr Jno. Kimball. Sir, The letter, with documents enclosed, have been received. In relation to the school-house; to have it finished by the middle of Dec. would be [[underlined]] impossible [[/underlined]]. The first proposition you made us, (Aug. 24. when at a demonstration of ours) we could and would have complied with, without hesitation. It was as follows: $300, worth of lumber, and have it finished by January. Now to undertake to build a school-house according to the plan you sent us and to receive no assistance until finished, would be folly on our part. We are greatly disappointed, and very much annoyed at the sayings of the Democrats "You will get no lumber," and we have not got none. Yours very Respt [[signature]] Jas. A. Pitt [[/signature]]
