Mr Jno Kimball,
I received a letter from Miss Lyons at Princess Ann, Md. today and presume that her letter to you has also been delivered.
You will not be surprised then that I must say that I was both mortified and chagrinned that no preparation had been made for this young girl, not even a place for her to board selected, indeed no one knew that she was coming.
Will you be kind enough to tell me as soon as possible what arrangement you
have made for paying her. I promised her, authorized as I supposed by your letters, that the people would provide her board, and that you would pay her $10. a month as salary drawn from the Bureau, while we would give her as much more, and pay her return expenses - I gave her $10. in advance, will you give her the same at the close of each month?
We promised this support and salary, of course must provide it, so that an early and definite answer will oblige me.
