- Supt. Kimball instructs Darlington teacher Phenia C. Crisfield to order books from the booksellers Cushings and Bailey. Kimball will deduct the cost of the books from her salary. Crisfield must then sell the books to her students or their parents to recover her expenses.

Dear Miss:
I send you a daily register and blanks. You fill out one of these blanks with a report of your school at the close of each month, and forward the same to this office.
You should order the books of Messrs. [[underlined]] Cushings and Bailey, [[/underlined]] 262 Baltimore St. Baltimore. The parcel will be sent according to your directions, and at your risk. They will hold me responsible for the bill, which I shall pay, and deduct the amount from your salary.
You must sell these books to your pupils, or their parents, at a price sufficient to cover your expenses. When you send your order you had better enclose this letter.
